How do I rate the durability of laminate flooring?
Since laminate flooring does not have a standard wear layer, the wear resistance in laminate flooring is measured by an Abrasion Coefficient rating or AC rating, 1 being the least resistant and 5 being the most resistant to wear. This rating measures the abrasion resistance of the floor and determines how well the floor will withstand day-to-day wear. AC 3 is the industry standard for everyday residential use. AC 4 and AC 5 are considered appropriate for heavier traffic and even commercial applications.
