Do I need an underlayment for laminate flooring?

Underlayment is required with laminate floors that do not have a pre-attached underlayment. It provides better sound absorption, helps with subfloor issues, moisture control, and a softer feeling underfoot. If the laminate has a pre-attached pad, a vapor barrier is still required over a concrete substrate.
