What is pressed and rectified tile?
Our feature and benefit information online and in-store will indicate the type of edge on each tile. There are two options:
- A "Pressed" edge has a nice rounded edge and can have slightly different sizes (Calibers). It is important to ensure your project has all the same caliber when you begin the installation. It is recommended to not install pressed edge tile with less than a 1/8” grout line.
- A "rectified" edge means the edges of the tile have been cut to ensure every tile is the same exact size (no calibers). It also allows for the PRO to install using a very narrow grout line (1/16" or 1/8"). It is important to know that the rectified installation is a more challenging installation for the PRO because the floor must be flat and there is very little room for variation.
